The Galaxy Leader, a ship owned by a company registered in the Isle of Man, has reportedly been struck in an attack by the United States Navy, according to claims by the anti-Israeli terrorist group, the Houthis. This incident marks a significant escalation in maritime tensions linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The Houthis, who had seized control of the Galaxy Leader, allege that a US airstrike targeted the vessel. The Galaxy Leader, registered under a Manx company, has been at the centre of international attention since its seizure in November 2023. At the time, the Houthis attacked the ship in support of Hamas’ invasion of Israel.
Previously, the vessel made headlines following the inauguration of President Donald Trump, when the US State Department publicly welcomed the release of the ship’s crew in January. This release was viewed as an initial diplomatic achievement by the incoming administration.
While the ship is reported owned by a Manx company, the ship was registered in the Bahamas. The Isle of Man Ship Registry was contacted for comment, but is not expected to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
