{"id":1964,"date":"2022-09-01T10:33:44","date_gmt":"2022-09-01T09:33:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/taxpayersalliance.im\/?p=1964"},"modified":"2022-09-01T10:33:44","modified_gmt":"2022-09-01T09:33:44","slug":"long-waits-at-ae-increase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/community.im\/taxpayersalliance\/2022\/09\/01\/long-waits-at-ae-increase\/","title":{"rendered":"Long waits at A&amp;E increase"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The number of people who waited more than 12 hours to be seen at Accident and Emergency (A&amp;E) services at Nobles Hospital has increased by more than ten times from 2017 to 2021, rising from just 51 people waiting 12+ hours in 2017, to 595 people waiting 12+ hours in 2021. The figures were released by the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) in Tynwald, in response to a written question by John Wannenburgh, a Member of the House of Keys for Douglas North.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The figures released by the DHSC reveal that the number of people seeking treatment at A&amp;E increased from 28,451 people in 2017, to 32,891 in 2019, before falling during the two pandemic and lockdown-affected years of 2020 and 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the 2017-2021 time period, the percentage of people being seen at A&amp;E within 4 hours fell from three-quarters in 2017, to only two-thirds in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These waiting times includes triage, waiting time, assessment and treatment in Nobles Emergency Department, and does not include the Minor Injuries Unit at Ramsey Cottage Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.three.fm\/news\/isle-of-man-news\/almost-600-people-waited-over-12-hours-in-aande-last-year\/\">Isle of Man radio station Three FM also reported on this issue<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Source Documents<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object aria-label=\"PDF embed\" data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-21b2c981-15d7-4aa8-85fd-d6a25294282e\" href=\"https:\/\/taxpayersalliance.im\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/W-202201-0284.pdf\">W-202201-0284<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/taxpayersalliance.im\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/W-202201-0284.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-21b2c981-15d7-4aa8-85fd-d6a25294282e\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The number of people who waited more than 12 hours to be seen at Accident and Emergency (A&amp;E) services at Nobles Hospital has increased by more than ten times from 2017 to 2021, rising from just 51 people waiting 12+ hours in 2017, to 595 people waiting 12+ hours in 2021.
